Henna is not just an art, it is a tradition, culture and for me, a tool of change. I started off as a mehndi artist with passion, and later, I turned it into empowering girls and women with skill-based training.
Now, at Kulsum Henna Studio, we are not just creating beautiful designs, but also boosting confidence, independence and opportunities.
From passion to purpose
I am Kulsum Bano, a professional mehndi artist from Jaipur. I started off as a henna enthusiast, slowly sed that I could do more.
I realised that mehendi is a skill that can bring change. It requires no big investment, but it can bring income and identity. This is what I decided to work for.
Building skills for opportunities
I have completed 8+ batches of my training, where I have trained girls from basic to professional level.
These classes are not just about learning designs, but also:
- Building confidence
- Boosting creativity
- Giving earning opportunities
- Boosting professional growth
- Many of my students have started their own work, which is what I am most proud of.
Empowerment is not a word, it is action
When it comes to women empowerment, I believe that it is not just a word but an action.

A proud moment of recognition
My work and journey were recognised in 2025 with the Women’s Empowerment Award from Bharatiya Janata Party.
It was not just an award, but a reminder that even a small being a part of something big can bring a change. It was encouraging me to take my mission forward.

Every design at Kulsum Henna Studio has a story behind it . Whether it is a bridal mehendi or the first design a student wants to practice. It is a reflection of passion and creativity.
I am passionate about putting a modern twist but never missing the cultural significance of the traditional styles of henna.

I need to start with this. I need to reach out to more girls, train more artists and create a community where women help each other.
This is also my way of proving that with a simple skill like mehendi we can create a powerful tool of change.
